Does Biomaster Protect from Unseen Dangers?

Demand for antimicrobial packaging labels has grown each year and there are expectations that the global market for antimicrobial additives in packaging will be worth over $10bn by 2022.

There’s a new kid on the block in the health industry and everyone is so excited about these products. Biomaster products contain ‘antimicrobial’ protection and are therefore flying off the shelves in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic. Biomaster technology pro-actively prevents the growth of bacteria on surfaces that have been treated and inhibits the growth of most types of harmful bacteria.

The technology is applicable to practically anything. Re-usable cups, face mask straps and hygiene keys are all really popular products, providing a second line of defence against harmful bacteria. We’re now able to bring you a high-quality varnish label that includes Biomaster technology. It’s food safe and means that literally all of our food products could have antimicrobial protection if these labels were applied industry wide. They remain effective for the lifetime of the product. Biomaster does not affect the characteristics of the material in any way and offers a low cost added benefit to your design.

Producing antimicrobial flexible film packaging incorporating Biomaster technology provides long-lasting and effective protection for single and multilayer packaging for pouches, bags, labels, lids, trays, wraps and liners.

Biomaster’s versatility enables common film materials such as Polyethylene (PE), Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and Polypropylene (PP) as well as biodegradable polymers made of polylactic acids (PLAs) to benefit from antimicrobial protection.

How does Biomaster work?

Biomaster binds itself to the cell wall and disrupts its growth. The Biomaster ions interfere with enzyme production and stops the cell from producing energy. Finally, Biomaster interrupts the cell’s DNA and prevents it from replicating.
